as JILL "THE MOUSE" CHEN
In The CW’s new drama series “The Carrie Diaries,” Ellen Wong stars as Jill "The Mouse” Chen, who is extremely bright and loyal, and is one of Carrie’s (AnnaSophia Robb) best friends.
Wong was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. After seeing Kate Winslet’s performance in “Titanic,” Wong knew she wanted to be an actress. Eager to be a part of film and TV, she took jobs working behind the scenes on local film and television productions, reading scripts and watching auditions at the local television network she worked at until she felt ready to make her move in front of the camera.
Her first role was on the award-winning television series “This Is Wonderland,” followed by an appearance on The CW’s “Runaway.” She was next caught stealing scenes as Knives Chau opposite Michael Cera in the 2010 Universal Studios feature, “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” Not only did she get to show off her talent as an actress, but also was able to showcase her ability to take on intense fight choreography, wirework and weaponry. Following “Scott Pilgrim,” Wong booked a recurring role as Major Suzy Chao in “Combat Hospital.”
Trading action for thrillers, Wong’s next role put her into the award-winning short film “Silent Cargo,” in which her nuanced performance garnered her an ACTRA Nomination for Best Female Performance. She will also appear in the horror feature “Silent Night,” opposite Malcolm McDowell and Jamie King, due out in theaters this December.
Wong currently splits her time between Toronto and New York.
