The Girl Who Breaks Down

During an intense acting challenge, one model chastises the group while another reveals something traumatic in her past.  The model who expresses herself the best lands a role on a CW hit show.  Later, the models freak out when Tyra delivers news of their overseas trip.  Things heat up when the models shoot a sultry commercial in a foreign language with a male model.  

Special guests include director and guest judge Dennis Rovira and acting coach Tasha Smith.

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS

Jaeda, a student from Parkersburg, Iowa, was the eighth girl eliminated during the seventh cycle of The CW’s hit dramality series “America’s Next Top Model,” reducing the pool from 6 girls to 5.

The girls met with acting coach Tasha Smith at the Los Angeles Repertory Company for acting lessons. They all took turns performing exercises to learn how to break down their physical boundaries. “You just have to let go of everything,” Jaeda said. Each girl then shot their own silent film, acting out the direction that Tasha gave them. After an emotional day CariDee was chosen as the winner, earning her a guest spot on The CW’s “One Tree Hill.” The girls then viewed CariDee’s winning silent film, and were shocked at the end when Tyra surprised them with a trip to Barcelona, Spain.

Once the girls landed in Barcelona, they were happily surprised when their driver made several stops along the way to pick up male models who would be part of their next challenge. They all went to dinner at a traditional Spanish restaurant, where they learned they would shoot a commercial the next day in the native language Catalan. Tensions rose between Jaeda and her male model Nacho after he told her he did not like black women. “I was so excited to go to Spain and now my first night, it’s kind-of ruined,” Jaeda said.

The following day the girls shot a Secret deodorant commercial, where they had to kiss their male model at the end. While most of the girls struggled with their lines and the pressure to perform in another language, Jaeda broke down under the stress. Jay tried to encourage her to continue. “Actions speak louder than words. If you look defeated, it reads as defeat,” Jay said. “I could not get it together.” Jaeda later said.

During the judging, Jaeda warned the judges of her poor performance before they watched her commercial. “You were right to warn us. It was like watching a car crash,” Twiggy said. Despite the judges appreciation of Jaeda’s beauty, they could not overlook that week after week she had been in the bottom two. “Some girls need a little bit more time,” Tyra said before eliminating her from the race to become “America’s Next Top Model.”
