Nate (Chace Crawford) returns from his travels with a mysterious brunette, Bree Buckley (guest star JoAnna Garcia) in tow. Rufus (Matthew Settle), Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) spent the summer in the Hamptons, adjusting to the van der Woodsen's glamorous lifestyle surprisingly faster than any of them expected. Silver (Jessica Stroup) is convinced that she and Dixon (Tristan Wilds) can mend their broken relationship, but Naomi and Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) convince her to give him some much-needed space. Liam (Matt Lanter) attempts to apologize to Naomi for what happened on prom night and denies sleeping with Annie, but refuses to reveal who he was with. Meanwhile, Liam and Dixon join the surf team, in an effort to keep Liam's stepfather (guest star John Schneider, "Smallville") from sending him off to military school. Caleb (guest star Victor Webster) reams Ella (Katie Cassidy) after her director bails on a job, so she recruits Jonah to fill in on a Boomkat music video at the last minute. However, the lead singer Kat (guest star Taryn Manning) might be more than Jonah can handle, putting Ella's job on the line. While investigating a monorail crash, Lois meets John Corben (guest star Brian Austin Green), a new reporter at The Daily Planet, with a negative attitude toward the Red-Blue Blur. Chloe begs Clark to use the Legion ring to go back in time to save Jimmy, but he refuses, driving a wedge into their friendship.
